Market Drayton 3, Pershore 0

PERSHORE returned empty handed from the long trip to North Staffordshire after a disappointing performance in this DTZ encounter.

With several enforced changes and a long trip up a mercifully clear M6, Pershore took time to settle against a well-organised and pacy home side.

Pershore gradually came into the game and Hughes forced a fine save from Banks and Rushton had a goal disallowed shortly afterwards.

On the stroke of half time, though, Market Drayton for-ced a short corner and scored against the run of play.

The game became much longer in the second half and Pershore's defence was exposed by the pace of the home attack and a mix up on halfway led to Market Drayton's second goal.

Pershore fought back but their opponents secured the points with a well-worked short corner.

Despite the result Pershore were encouraged by the debut performances of Ridings and Whitehead while Lea Hawkes, playing in an unfamiliar role, made an excellent contribution despite carrying an injury.

Pershore play Simba this week at Evesham High school and will be looking for a return to winning form.
