Pershore II 2, Sikh Union II 1

THIS return to winning ways in the DTZ League for Pershore should have been reflected in a wider margin than the single goal.

Pershore opened sprightly enough and took the lead on five minutes when Phil Taylor slipped the offside trap to fool the keeper with a carefully placed shot.

A second goal came shortly afterwards when Taylor found Dave Ingram on the byline who netted from an acute angle.

A thrashing looked on the cards, but Pershore began to give the ball away too easily and allowed the visitors to pull a goal back as half time drew near.

The second period saw Pershore dominate and they were unlucky not add two more to their tally when Taylor had a goal disallowed and Ingram struck a post.

Pershore's build-up was much better with Handley and Tucker again proving influential. However, Union's experienced defenders held the line to frustrate much of Per-shore's attacking play at the last hurdle.

On the few occasions the visitors ventured forward, Pershore's equally aged defe-nce reciprocated, with Cooper in the Pershore goal only being troubled once throughout the entire half.
