STOURPORT Swifts must switch their FA Vase second round match with Chasetown this weekend due to the floods that have swept across their Walshes Meadow ground.

Tuesday night's game with Bloxwich Town was postponed and secretary Nigel Green admits clearing up the pitch and clubhouse will be a lengthy process.

Swifts' options include playing the game at Chasetown or arranging a neutral venue but they are also considering getting FA permission to delay the tie until Tuesday. A decision was due to be made today.

It will be a major race against time to prepare the ground for next week but volunteers have been busy at the Meadow.

Dreams of a cup run could well be jeopardised by the freak weather, while Simon Marsh (thigh) and Matt Southwick (calf) are battling for fitness.

But Green said: "We haven't been playing very well lately but there's a good feeling in the camp. The players want to win the FA Vase."

Swifts twice came from behind at Halesowen Harriers on Saturday to finally share the Midland Alliance points.

They could not take advantage of ample possession and fell behind after 23 minutes when Dave Fallows went past several players and lobbed keeper Rob Clarke from 25 yards.

The rest of the first half was a midfield battle with neither side making clear chances.

Swifts livened up for the second half as Alex Cowley played a more influential part, twice feeding Lea Shaw. His first attack on goal was intercepted by Michael Calwell but on 51 minutes he hit the net from 10 yards.

The game was then continually interrupted by the referee's rather keen use of cards, resulting in both teams being reduced to 10 men.

And a good run by Mark Clarke found Andy Jones unmarked on the six-yard line and he netted easily for Halesowen.

Undaunted, Swifts fought back and a shot from Shaw into the penalty area was stabbed home by Paul Moore.

Moore almost scored the winner but his late drive was stopped by Knott in the Harriers goal.

Fixture, Saturday: Swifts v Chasetown (FA Vase second round).
