I AM trying to fathom the point of the traffic lights on the A449 at the Black Bridge.
They are driving me round the bend.
They were switched off on Monday morning, October 30, and there were no queues in any direction on each of the four times I went through them on my way to and from Hartlebury.
On the Tuesday and Wednesday they were switched on again and during the morning rush hour the tailback reached Hoo Farm.
Sitting in this queue, I happened to be listening to the Today programme on Radio 4 which featured global warming and its influence on our climate.
Various boffins were emphasising the need for us to burn less fossil fuels.
If they took away those lights it would help.
To add fuel to my frustration, I learned from the Shuttle that people living along that stretch of road may be able to claim compensation.
As one of the many drivers inconvenienced, I think I'll put in a claim too.
