PHIL Mullen has been named Dr Martens League Western Division Manager of the Month for the second time this season

The Common Road chief, though, will be hoping the award doesn't again tarnish a topsy-turvy season which, for the moment, has been left idle by the weather.

The FA Umbro Trophy clash at Leatherhead has been rescheduled for next Tuesday night after flooding in Surrey caused a double postponement. Any more rain and Saturday's league match at Cirencester and the Trophy tie could again be under threat.

"It's not come at a bad time," said Mullen. "The training pitch has been very productive and that's important and it's given some of the lads the chance to regain fitness."

The Evesham boss also added that his high-spirited charges have been taking the "mickey" about his award.

"Did no one else want it," they inquired.

"It's nothing really compared to the job we've got to do over the season but it's nice to be recognised again," he declared.

Skipper Steve Taylor is unlikely to be risked at Cirencester on Saturday but could make the trip down the M25 if midweek absenteeism is high.

Ross Knight has got three training sessions under his belt in seven days, while Joe Licata and Russell Parmenter have also benefited from the lay-off.

One player who won't be playing at Leatherhead is John Deakin, whose loan situation doesn't permit him to play in the competition.

Early season signing Michael Stephenson has left the club and will make his debut for Stratford Town on Saturday.
