STOURPORT Hockey Club had a disappointing weekend, registering yet another English Hockey Association Division One defeat and being knocked out of the Men's Cup.

In Sunday's cup third round fixture, Phil Lashford was the only scorer against Belper, who won 2-1.

Belper's James Stedman scored after 14 and 22 minutes before Lashford replied three minutes later.

Matt Edwards scored a hat-trick in this home victory on Saturday.

Stourport were always the stronger side but the scores were level by half-time at one goal each.

In an exciting second half, apart from Edwards' triumph, there were scores for Mick Chambers and Tom White.

However, inept defensive work allowed the visitors to score four goals.

Pickwick Old Sils 1

Despite good attacking play in this Worcestershire League Division One match, Stourport had to defend desperately with Pat Terry making a superb goal-line clearance early in the match.

The midfield strung some good passes together and Teri Baron had chances to score but to no avail in a goal-less first half.

Pickwick piled on the pressure in the second half and again Stourport missed several chances, most of which were created by Jessica Trundle.

The best chances fell to Kerry Maughan and Jean Senior, but the former's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

A central run, avoiding several tackles, allowed Pickwick to find the goal 10 minutes from the end.

Bromsgrove 2nds 7

Stourport 3rds 0

Stourport had a chance scrambled off the line in the opening minutes but the remainder of the match followed a different pattern.

Bromsgrove grabbed seven goals although the battling visitors almost scored when Wilma Martin's cross evaded Rosie Williams and the unmarked Emily Morley at the far post by inches.
