POSTMAN and powerboat racer Ady Dickinson delivered the goods with a national endurance record on Lake Windermere.

Dickinson, of Chaddesley Corbett, completed 73 laps in a three-hour period in the offshore circuit racing A class with driver Ian Stirling, who used to live in Kidderminster.

The duo established an average speed of over 59mph, came fourth overall and won their class in their most successful season yet despite a drastic change in boat design.

Dickinson, 33, (pictured left and in action above) said: "We have come on in leaps and bounds. After three practice sessions, we thought it was going superbly."

The partnership, together for eight years, have just won the Gibraltar Championship and finished runners-up in the British National Championship.

Earlier in the season, they came third in the French Grand Prix in their 70mph-plus Phantom 18.

Dickinson added: "I used to do a bit of water-skiing and was persuaded to get into this sport. I did a couple of basic races and then Ian's girlfriend dropped out and everything fell into place. The adrenalin's fantastic.

"I'm more of a second set of eyes than a navigator. You could call me a co-pilot. We certainly do spend quite a bit of time in the air."

Their best results were a first in Poole and seconds in Ramsgate, Teignmouth and Gibraltar.
