BUSINESS is blooming for a Hereford company which sold its botanical extracts division for a whopping £1.5m.

Now Birmingham-based Quest Vitamins is hoping its new acquisition, Flavex International, will help its presence in the alternative medicine market grow.

The deal has been supported by Lloyds TSB Commercial, which is ploughing £500,000 into vitamin maker Quest to help it develop its new herbal medicines arm.

"There is a growing demand for alternative herbal medicines," said Quest finance director, Naushad Merhali.

"Flavex is a pace setter in this area and will help us take advantage of the growth in the market both here in the UK and overseas."

The company will remain in Hereford and is to receive extra funding to boost its manufacturing capacity.
