Beer shortages caused by a drayman's dispute at Ansell's Brewery have led to the closure of some Redditch public houses.

The town centre pubs have been forced to put the towels up indefinitely and many face imminent closure as the inter-union dispute between the National Association of the Licensed House Managers and the Transport and General Workers' Union drags on into the second week.

The Archers and The Unicorn have been the first pubs to close in the dispute, the Unicorn last week and the Archers on Sunday night.

The Woodrow is hoping for a massive load of malt this week to keep them open but in the meantime, their stocks are down to rock-bottom.

In Queen's Street, the Queen's Head is looking likely to lock up "any day now" says the landlord.

The dispute is also filtering out to Studley where the landlord of the Jubilee has had to shut the doors.
