She lives in Tibberton, near Droitwich Spa, and is leader of the Opposition on Wychavon District Council.
She has lived in the county since 1989, when she also joined the newly-formed Social and Liberal Democrats.
Married with three children aged 17, 20 and 23, she is a librarian in a higher education college.
She has represented the Bowbrook ward on the district council since 1995 and chaired the environment committee from 1997 to 1999.
She has been a school governor and a housing association board member and chairs Droitwich Ca-nals Trust.
Welcoming her selection, local party secretary Gordon Selway said: "We are pleased to have a prospective candidate who lives locally and has a record of successful campaigning experience."
