A SUPPORT group has been launched in Bromsgrove to offer help and hope to people suffering from depression.
The Depression Recovery Group offers the chance to explore the underlying reasons for the illness and to express emotions about it in a confidential environment with fellow sufferers.
The group is intended for people who do not have long-term access to mental health services, and is supported by Worcestershire Mental Health Network.
There is no charge, but the group asks for contributions towards the venue's running costs.
Organiser Barbara Noble said: "We recognise that many people struggle to come to terms with life events and that daily living may be difficult.
"People feel they do not have the opportunity to discuss things in a confidential, supportive atmosphere.
"While medication may help relieve some of the symptoms, it does not address the underlying reasons causing this troublesome complaint.
"Having the space and freedom to explore and express the emotions and experience of depression may help."
If you feel you would benefit from spending time with others who understand your difficulties, you would be welcome at their next meeting.
They are led by a qualified expert and held every Tuesday at the Age Concern offices, in Windsor Street, from 7pm to 8.15pm
