AT the meeting on October 27, Angela Lanyon talked to members about her career as an in-house theatre manager.

She has now retired to Worcester, writing for radio and working with children's theatre.

Her talk commenced with her early experiences when visiting schools with a travelling theatre workshop, being on a very low budget this necessitated a great deal of innovation with props and costumes.

She then progressed to working full-time for the education authority in schools, then to Westcliff, Essex Old Theatre, to the prestigious Festival Theatre, Chichester, and the new Theatre Royal, Plymouth, responsible for very diverse aspects of in-house theatre management, overseeing higher budgets and in-house staff.

This experience enabled her to give members an interesting insight into the work involved with props and costumes in the theatre.

The next meeting will be the AGM on November 23.
