Studley BKL 1 Kings Heath 1

AFTER their thrashing of Blackheath in midweek more fireworks were expected at the Beehive on Saturday.

But the Bees had to settle for one point as Kings Heath secured the draw with a very late strike.

Steve Hands appeared to have given BKL the lead on 15 minutes only for the linesman to notice a minor infringement.

Kevin Rowlands watched in anguish as his powerful header flew off Kernick for a corner on 27 minutes.

A quick interchange between Hands and Whittingham enabled the latter to find Andy Grubb in the box and his cool finish gave BKL the lead.

This could have been increased before half-time, Cope struck one effort wide while visiting keeper Saunders pushed away a goalbound effort from Powell.

The second half continued in much the same manner. Kings Heath mustered one effort on goal, Beasley saving well from Galbraith, but all the action was down the other end.

In between Saunders' shot-stopping display, Rowlands blasted over when clear, Powell skimmed the bar after connecting with Fergie's cross and Grubb fired into the side netting.

Well into injury time Kings Heath's Tommy Duggan fired in Smith's low cross, leaving BKL to ponder how they managed to drop a couple of points.
