I would like to thank everyone who attended the bonfire and fireworks at The Canals Trust Basin on Saturday. To say that we were amazed is an understatement.
There were more than 80 volunteers from across the country working on the canal at the weekend at their own expense. The money we raised will pay for the bricks needed to complete the spill weir, more than 200 yards of canalside towpath to be laid with Top Trick, a new recycled material, and scrub clearance which makes the towpath more accessible. Knowing that these materials are available to the volunteers makes their work more gratifying and also the fact that the trust is supporting their efforts.
