IN the Bromsgrove and Redditch Table Tennis League Division One the top two teams are both undefeated and recorded two easy victories last week.

Lickey Monarchs beat Astwood Bank 10-0 and the Newton Works A team of Mick Fiddian, Chris Maiden and Michael Kendal beat Newton Works B team by the same score.

The two other games in Division One were much closer: SPSP had Bernard Leech guesting for them but they still went down 6-4 to Barnt Green Tennis A. Bernie won two of his three games but it was not enough, as his two team mates Phil Govier and Lester Winterbourne could only manage one each. The best for Barnt Green were Steven Hire and Jason McFall who both won two and teamed up to win the doubles. Dave Stuckey won the other game for Barnt Green. Best game of the night was when Phil Govier beat Steve Hire, 10-21, 21-17, 22-20.

Droitwich Spa A came away from Hillcrest A with a 6-4 victory. Gordon Nicklin was the star for Droitwich winning his three games. He was backed up by team mate Tony Deighton who won two. Best for Hillcrest was Alan McLoughlin who won two and then teamed up with his team mate Darren Williams to win the doubles. Captain Don Evans got the other one for Droitwich to give them victory.

In Division Two the best game of the week was between Barnt Green B and Studley Road Nomads, ending in a 5-5 draw. For Barnt Green, John Davies and Jason McFall did the best by winning two each and Steven Hire won the other. For the Nomads, Bernie Leech was in great form winning all his three and Jeff Lines getting one. In the all important doubles match, with the score standing at 5-4 to Barnt Green, Bernie and Jeff managed to win an exciting game over John and Jason 14-21, 21-13, 22-20.

Droitwich B came away from Newton Works C with a 7-3 victory. Captain Chris Harris won all his three games for Droitwich. P Harris (two) and M. Perrot (one) were the other winners. For Newton Works B, Askey (two) and Avril Belcher (one) were the winners. Droitwich won the doubles for a comfortable win.

Barnt Green Hornets had a good 7-3 win over Hillcrest B. For the Hornets, Paul Grigg, Ivor Anderson and Chris Garner all won two each, with Paul and Ivor teaming up to win the doubles. Graeme Farrall had a great night for Hillcrest winning all his games.

Lickey Panthers were much too strong for Droitwich C. Geoff Unitt, John Dale and David Appleton getting a 10-0 victory.
