ON page 19 of the Evening News (Tuesday, October 31) I read the story headlined A Trail of Death and Destruction and Michael Meacher saying that the storms are evidence of a change in our climate as a result of pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Then, on page 10, I read how barmy we are to waste money on bus lanes to try to make Worcester a car-free city.
I fear like fools we will continue the overuse of the car and continue our demand for industry to produce more and more consumer goodies, so pumping more greenhouse gases into our atmosphere.
At least Worcester City Council is trying to persuade us that it's time to leave the car at home and use our legs or public transport.
They may have made mistakes, but as least they are being positive, which is more than I can say for your correspondent N Taylor.
What more evidence do we need? Floods, typhoons, strange weather patterns all over the world, yet we stick our heads in the sand and blame others. It's time to stop and take stock. The lifestyle of the developed world is causing mayhem. What is each one of us prepared to do before it's too late?
M H REYNOLDS, Worcester.
