IAN Hurdman is still waiting for his first win in the Benson and Hedges Snooker Championship since the tournament switched from Scotland to Malvern in 1997.
The Droitwich-based professional suffered again at the Willie Thorne Snooker Club last night, going down 5-1 to Welshman Gareth Chilcott.
Defeat for Hurdman was particularly disappointing after his fine performance last week in the final stages of the UK Challenge Tour when he reached the quarter-finals.
"Ever since the event came to Malvern I've struggled to play my best snooker," explained the world number 210. "At least when the competition was in Scotland I won a couple of matches, but down here it's been disastrous for me.
"To be honest I didn't go into the match feeling very confident because my practice form has been below par this week.
"I tried my best but I just couldnot settle down," said a disappointed Hurdman.
