COUNTY Councillor Tom Wareing was quoted in the Redditch Advertiser (November 1) as saying: "I would say that it's very important that we support the original route planned in the nineties and anything less is folly."
The councillor is, of course, referring to Option Two of the 10 potential traffic improvement schemes being assessed for the A435 corridor by Warwickshire County Council.
He is reported to go on to say: "Some of the other options would throw traffic into Astwood Bank and Crabbs Cross...and make traffic even worse."
This statement can be very misleading for only one option indicates increased traffic movement at Astwood Bank and Crabbs Cross and that is Option 10, which is not even for a bypass proposal but simply a scheme for introducing traffic calming measures.
All the other bypass options provide relief to Astwood Bank and Crabbs Cross and this can be seen if the options are "looked at very carefully," as suggested by Mr Wareing.
Furthermore, many of the options can be modified to provide additional traffic relief to certain existing roads, at a price, if it were thought necessary or desirable.
