WHILE not wishing to involve myself in the democratic process of Alvechurch, I must comment on the letter of Morris Jephcott (Advertiser, November 1).

His summary of William Hague's vision of Britain seems to me to be a little bit too brief - he seems to have missed out Hague's Government track record. I'll help him:

l Supported the Conservative Government's cover-up of the seriousness of BSE; which means the death toll from CJD will be higher.

l Supported the hasty sale of British Rail by the Tories in an attempt to buy votes. Already we are seeing the death toll rise because of this folly.

l Supported all the other policies of the Tories that lead to negative equity, mass unemployment, record business failures, record high crime, record losses on the stock exchange etc.

l Supports those who wish to wreck the country by trying to blackmail the Government into cutting taxes, irrespective of the effect this will have on the economy, the sick, the poor the old and the weak.

I think, Mr Jephcott, the word for a Hague Britain would be ISOLATED, not independent, alone, not proud.
