KIDDERMINSTER Harriers hope to sign striker John Durnin on a permanent basis later this week.

The 35-year-old former Oxford and Portsmouth player has impressed manager Jan Molby after signing a month's contract at Aggborough.

The contract is now up, and Molby had further talks with the player last night and is hopeful he can complete a deal on Thursday.

Molby said: "Negotiations are ongoing but we have made some ground yesterday. The fact we are still talking is promising.

"He has done well for us. Apart from his goals, he has given us something that we haven't had.

"Durnin has better movement than any of our other front men and has a lot of experience."

Molby is also targeting a loan striker but says that move will depend on the Durnin situation.

Durnin will not figure in tonight's Nationwide Conference Championship Shield clash with Kingstonian at Aggborough to rest up a tweaked hamstring.
