NO one can deny that globalisation is challenging the traditional role of our nation state.
There must be a new kind of global government and Europe, with, or without England. But how can the people of member states be involved? The facts of alienation and separation of the people from their governors, especially from what is seen as a remote Brussels bureaucracy, are undeniable.
They give a specious gloss to the complaints of the sceptics and the answer is not found in nit-picking.
The vision of the founding fathers embraces peace, prosperity, justice, security and shared values. Economic and social development is what the European Union is all about.
