CRACKPOTS B are determined to keep their position in the Malvern Table Tennis League third division but Upton B gave them a long, hard fought battle for three points.

Half the sets went to a third game and four of them involved Richard Gledhill, who was successful in two of his singles but missed out on the other one and the doubles. Ted Cates won three and the doubles with Max Davison (2) and Alan Forsdike also won two for Crackpots.

Allsorts have still to win a set, but Ralph Cook managed to win a game against Roy Holland of Abbeydowne, and Marcus Coates scored 23 points against Peter Denniss in their first game in the same match. Bill Lucas was the other Abbeydowne player. Ray Miles, Simon Hughes and Mark Smith were the winning trio for Amateurs against Allsorts.

Police had an equally easy win over Abbey College who have also yet to win a set. Malcolm Dalley, Carl Pitt and Alan Holmes were the victors.

Wombats had a long evening with Crackpots C. six sets went the distance and nine games went beyond 21-18. Paul Lythgoe won three for Wombats and was supported by Dave Harrison and Pete Harding who won two each. Stan Gin and Alvan Burgess won a singles each and Alvan teamed with Ed Palmer to win the doubles. The fact that they are both left handers might have contributed to the result which was won by 24-22 in the third game.
