MALVERN gymnasts Sarah Jenkins and Faye Cadman, who train at the City of Worcester Olympic Gymnastics Club (98), took first and second places respectively in the Senior (FIG) title at the Hereford & Worcester County Championships held in Kidderminster recently.

The competition, which saw the Worcester club taking four titles, one of them jointly, saw a clean sweep of all the overall and apparatus medals in the Senior competition.

As well as first place overall, Sarah took first on Bars and Floor, and second on Beam and Vault and Faye, who took last year's title, took first on Beam, second on Bars and Floor and third on Vault. This is only the second year the County has been able to stage a competition at the FIG level. This is a testament to the rising standards of achievement within the sport in the combined counties.

Sarah and Faye add this achievement to the third place the City of Worcester Cub's FIG team gained at the Regional Team Apparatus competition held at Burslem earlier in October. This was a particularly creditable result against opposition that included gymnasts who have competed internationally.

The City of Worcester Gymnastics Club train three times weekly at their training base at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre, Worcester. Training is either on a competition or recreational basis, with experienced coaches qualified to train gymnasts to compete at the highest skill level. Applications from interested girls are always welcome.
