MICHAEL Burleigh has proved rural crafts are firmly in the saddle after collecting a flush of industry certificates.
The Herefordshire saddler picked up a City & Guilds certificate, National Skill Assessment and Qualification Scheme level one and two awards and a Countryside Agency accolade.
Mr Burleigh, who works for Horse Boutique at Martindale, near Kingsland, was also presented with the Saddlers Company Certificate after completing the Countryside Agency's Saddlery course earlier this month.
"Craft training programmes have experienced a year of change which has naturally caused some concern," said Richard Wakeford, chief executive of the Countryside Agency.
"But the changes we have made over the past year, or so, demonstrate our commitment to achieving a longer-term security for the craft sector.
"We have made good progress over the past 12 months to implement our new training strategy.
"We are now working in partnership with the Herefordshire College of Technology to continue the apprenticeship courses."
