RED Lion Falcons FC finally gained their first point of the season in this Worcester League Division Four encounter at the Chase on Sunday.

RED LION FALCONS 3, SOUTHSIDE 3

In a keenly contested bottom of the table clash, the Falcons - with five straight defeats behind them - settled quickly with Paul Rowe orchestrating a fine midfield performance and new signing Mike Burke leading the line well.

Their early pressure paid off on 16 minutes when the Lion experienced taking the lead for the first time this season. John Rose's corner was deflected down for Rich Lambert to blast through a heap of bodies.

However, by half time Southside had not only equalised but taken the lead with two goals from Gavin Prosser.

Lion hit back and after much pressure the equaliser came on 56 minutes through John Rose and then a superb shot from Rich Bryan gave them the lead but a late effort from Powell levelled the scores again.

Man of the match: Mike Burke.

Falcons entertain The Dovey this Sunday, players meet Sunday 9.45am at the Chase School.
