WEST Malvern are through to the quarter-finals of the County Saturday Minor Cup following this good victory against Tenbury.

WEST MALVERN 9, TENBURY UNITED RES 4

With two players arriving late, West kicked off with only ten players in atrocious conditions. The visitors opened the scoring when they broke through after just four minutes and their centre forward fired home with an angled shot.

With the West up to full strength they pressed hard for an equaliser and were rewarded when Lee Tracey struck the post with a fine effort and Ken McEwan was on hand to lash home the rebound.

West continued to keep the pressure on and went in front when Will Hardy scored from close range.

West went 3-1 up following good attempts by Andy Hurrell and Will Hardy, Dougie Hawes drove home.

The second half started with West again on the attack and it was not long before Will Hardy grabbed his second and they then went 6-1 up when Lee Tracey netted a brace.

Tenbury then pulled a goal back scoring from a corner kick but straight from the restart West raced forward and Ken McEwan fired home from 25 yards to restore their lead.

Hardy was then on hand to complete his hat-trick before Tenbury pulled another goal back to make it 8-4.

The home side had the final say when Hawes grabbed his second goal to make it 9-4.

Tomorrow (Saturday) West play New Inn, Pershore away, players meet Blue Bell, Guarlford Road, 1.15pm.
