WORCESTER City boss John Barton has saluted winger Mike Wyatt's return to form.

The summer signing from Gloucester City has yet to find his best for Worcester and has been left on the substitutes' bench in recent weeks.

But he will replace the suspended Paul Carty in tomorrow's FA Umbro Trophy first round clash with Mangotsfield United at St George's Lane (3pm).

Barton believes that in the last three games -- scoring a spectacular goal against Merthyr, coming on as substitute in last week's FA Cup defeat at Hampton and in the midweek Worcestershire Senior Cup win over Halesowen -- he has shown signs of getting back to his best.

He said: "We have had a chat with him and he has been disappointed with his returns in the last month in terms of his form.

"He had lost a little bit of confidence and no doubt that goal against Merthyr did him good.

"He carried that on when he came on at Hampton and again the other night. He deserves to be back in the side and will definitely start."

Carty is ruled out for one match following his dismissal against Tamworth two weeks ago, although he is only one booking away from another suspension.

Barton, who will give fitness checks to defender Martin Weir and striker Carl Tranter before tomorrow's game, has not had chance to see their Dr Martens League Western Division visitors play.

But he says their current position of second, without any league defeats, ensures they will have to be respected.

"They are second in the table, and after the number of games they have played you do not get into that position by a fluke.

"They will be full of confidence and consequently it will be a tough opening tie in the Trophy for us.

"But on Monday, without it being spectacular, it was a decent response from us on the back of Saturday, and we have to make sure we set ourselves up right for the game.

"If we do that, I am sure we can take care of the opposition."

If tomorrow's game is drawn, the replay will be at Mangotsfield's Cossham Street ground on Tuesday (7.45).

The winners will be away to Hendon or Tonbridge Angels in the second round on December 2.
