ALL non-urgent surgery at the hospital which serves Bromsgrove has been cancelled to make room for patients fleeing floods which have wreaked havoc in the county.
Patients from Castle Street Hospital in Worcester were evacuated yesterday amid fears that electricity and heating would be cut off, and several have been transferred to the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.
Routine operations have been cancelled to free up beds for the 67 patients, who have undergone orthopaedic, head and neck surgery, coming to Redditch and other sites in Worcester.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust say it is too early at this stage to say when Castle Street will be reopened.
Relatives will have been contacted direct to let them know where the patients have been transferred.
