JIMMY Carl Black, legendary drummer with Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, is appearing at the Marr's Bar, Worcester, with the Muffin Men on Wednesday, November 8.
Black, who played on 15 Zappa albums between 1965 and 1981, is with the Muffin Men, an accomplished Zappa tribute band, on this, their 10th anniversary tour.
So impressive is the musicianship of the band, it has persuaded venue owner Brian Marr to overcome his dislike for tribute bands.
Also appearing this week are Dallas and Boyscout on Saturday, November 4. Dallas are described as having an Elvis Costello sound and Boyscout as "inventive, energetic, varied and dynamic".
Spare Rib, on Thursday, November 9, play jazz-funk vibes with an eclectic mix of soul and hip-hop, and Splatt on Friday, November 10, provide double bass, mandolin, acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies with a thick helping of Celtic sauce.
