I WAS delighted to read your Comment (October 20) on the excellent work of our Hospices.
As a recently retired governor of St Richard's may I take this opportunity to stress that we do not exclusively assist patients who expect shortly to die. Our help extends also to patients who are suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and who thankfully reach discharge.
Your readers may be interested to know that while the Malvern population is one eighth of the 250,000 in south Worcestershire St Richard's serves, sadly Malvern accounts for a fifth of our patients.
