WELL done, Councillor Derek Prodger. It's time we put a stop to the desecration of our city, and I hope you have full support from council colleagues in your quest to stop to such anti-social behaviour.

How anyone can show such contempt for an historically-valued building as the Commandery by daubing it with such graffiti is beyond belief.

I suppose it stems from the fact that it's not the in-thing to care about the past, or show respect for buildings and their historical value.

I congratulate you on you determination to clean up the city. Let's hope your lead will encourage others to help, including some of those who have seen fit to deface it.

Let's hope it plants the seed of consideration for the city's history in the minds of those responsible.

We need to encourage the young people of Worcester that "it's cool" to care. Not only about the damage we are doing to the future of our planet, but also that we should protect what is already considered by many to be old-fashioned or dated - before we lose it forever.

J S ROUND,

Worcester.
