Despite the strenuous last few weeks, Paul Weller is a one-man phenomenon.

He certainly gave the sell-out crowd what they came for - and more. Opening with Changing Man, the crowd went wild and rightly so - for Paul Weller was a changed character from the angry young man he has always been known as. He smiled, chatted (although briefly), invoked audience participation and even danced! With the help of his superb band, including Jools Holland's brother, Chris, on keyboards, Steve Craddock of Ocean Colour Scene on guitar and his long-time drummer since the early 80s, Steve White (who also unusually for a PW concert gave us a superb five minute drum solo), Paul Weller fans had the night of their lives.

Although Mr Weller himself is no stranger to most of the instruments, as he flawlessly changed between piano, keyboard, guitar and harmonica as effortlessly as he sang.

From Splinter to my favourite ballad You Do Something To Me, in PW's own unmistakable style and with some very psychedelic lighting effects, the time flew and before we knew, it, he was doing his superb encore of Wild Wood and Woodcutter's Son. Thanks Paul for making us wild.
