ON the first round of the Rob Tingle canal series, Evesham Juniors paid a visit to the Grand Union Canal at Lapworth.
The weather started well enough but soon changed and the anglers found the fishing very hard.
Elliot Canning came out on top with 2.1.0, followed by Neil Willetts with 1.4.0 and Dave Jones on 1.1.8.
Canning takes the lead on the junior aggregate league with 49 points from Dave Smith (42). Jones heads the Intermediate aggregate league with 46 from Andrew Beasley (42).
The club's next match is the first of the Townsend Still Water series to be held on November 12 on the Top Pool at Tunnel Barn Farm.
This is followed by the second of the Rob Tingle Canal series on November 26.
Tunnel Barn Farm
HIGH winds and torrential rain has done little to give good weights but there were still plenty of weights over 25lbs.
The Top Pool is the worst affected but pegs on the left hand side are giving good sport with carp and bream the best.
Plenty of perch showing to maggot and pinkie from sheltered pegs on the Bottom Pool.
House One is best for bigger carp, while House Two has bags of small carp totalling up to 200 fish from all areas.
Results - Junior Open (House Two): 1 Neil Willett (Evesham/Lanes) 10.4.0, 2 Barry Allard (Eve-sham/Lanes) 9.6.0, 3 Karl South (Bedworth) 7.3.0, 4 Dave Smith (Warwick) 7.2.0, 5 Jon Soullion (Coventry) 6.4.0, 6 Andrew Beasley (Evesham) 5.13.0.
Saturday Open (House): 1 John Merchant (Fisher-mans KO) 27.1.0, 2 Neil Jackson (Browning BG) 24.1.0, 3 Steve Page (Drennan) 23.7.0.
Sunday Open (House): 1 John Merchant (Fishermans KO) 38.6.0, 2 Martin Hincks (Moseley) 36.8.0, 3 Trev Chalk (Shimano Portway) 26.10.0.

CATCHES have been maintained during the past week despite the adverse weather conditions.
Geoff Smith's 5lb 12 oz Rainbow, Mr Tarrant's 4lb catch and the 5lb fish netted by Mr Harrison were eclipsed by Mr Ballard's Rainbow taken on the Top Lake.

FISHING a rising river at Willmotts, the Workies found it very hard fishing with most members catching only one fish or dry netting.

The next match should be at Cropthorne but, due to the river conditions, members will be informed of any change.
