ONE that didn't get away - a 14lb pike caught in the River Avon at Evesham by George Bourne of South Littleton.
Spinning from Peg Two on the Town Waters, just downstream from the Rowing Club, George quickly realised he was on to something out of the ordinary when the bait was taken.
"I played the fish for 20 minutes before eventually netting it and taking it from the water to the cheers of people from the opposite bank," he recalled.
After weighing his catch and getting a passer-by to take a picture, George returned the fish to the river "to fight another day".
"It was a big pike from this stretch of water and far and away the biggest I have ever caught," he triumphantly declared.
