Pershore IV 12 pts, Shottery 54

RUGBY was the real winner last Saturday when 11 men from Shottery took on ten men from Pershore.

The weather was to say the least poor but, despite the wet windy conditions, both sides played in a good spirit.

The home side were always going to find the game a challenge with the opposition boasting the greater number of players and several decades of youth on their side.

Shottery scored regularly throughout but the Pershore ten refused to give up the challenge and were rewarded with tries from John Matthews and Ian Peacock Brown. Sam Cook added one conversion.

The visitors had the whip hand with lively young backs who were able to take advantage of the large gaps exposed in an already stretched Pershore rearguard..

Both sides can be proud of the performance put in and it is hoped that a fixture between the two clubs can be arranged later in the season - hopefully in better conditions.
