DOCTORS will decide on Tuesday whether they want more power over their budgets with the formation of a Wyre Forest Health Trust.

Wyre Forest Primary Care Group will hold a meeting to decide on the proposal which will give district folk more of a say in their health care.

At present doctors are funded by Worcestershire Health Authority with the PCG tasked with organising care in the district.

Under the trust plan doctors will be funded directly by the regional health authority.

Wyre Forest General Practitioners Association chairman Dr Jim Goodman said if the plans go through it will be good news for district patients.

He said: "It would enable us to respond better to patient demands in the local community. We could create services beneficial to local patients without having to consult the health authority.

"We will be able to ensure local access to a wider range of facilities and maintain appropriate facilities in the district, such as out-patients at Kidderminster Hospital."

The public have been invited to come along and have their say at the meeting, at David Corbett House, Church Street, at 11.30am.
