IT is all aboard for world famous singer-songwriter Clifford T Ward who is making a trip to see some of his adoring fans in Ireland this weekend.

The Kidderminster man enjoyed great success in Dublin in the 1980s before he was struck with a virulent strain of multiple sclerosis.

However, thanks to kind-hearted donations from two Kidderminster firms, Clifford will be returning to Ireland after his fan club decided to hold its annual concert and convention outside Kidderminster for the first time.

London band School of Thought and musician James Davey will provide live renditions of Clifford's music during the event on Sunday.

Members of the Friends of Clifford T Ward fan club, the man himself and one of his sons will leave for Dublin on Saturday morning and return on Monday.

The wheels were set in motion by Foley Vehicle Rentals, which provided a van and minibus to transport the band and the instruments overseas.

And Morton Fisher Solicitors will sponsor the fuel for the trip, which means the group has received about £1,000 in funds.

Fan and group member Stephen Bagust said: "We are so pleased the convention can go ahead as planned.

"It will be a real treat for both Clifford and his fans that he can return to Dublin for what promises to be a truly memorable occasion."
