STOURPORT'S preparation for their top-of-the-table North Midlands One clash with Bishops Castle later this month continued with a 25-0 friendly win at Alcester.

They coped well with atrocious conditions to pressurise the home side who play in Warwickshire League Division One.

Stourport, giving a run-out to emerging players Chris Way at scrum-half and Matt Roberts at hooker, took the lead through loose-head prop Carl Pope's drive over the line.

Flanker Les Pimm scored another after taking a quick penalty to catch their defence unaware.

The Stourport scrumage put Alcester's pack under pressure all game and took several balls against the head.

Using a scrum on the 22m line, a No.8 break linked winger Toby Lee with flanker Andy Bourne to set up Way for a try and a 15-0 half-time lead.

Playing downhill in the second half, Stourport increased the pressure in the scrums, forcing a mistake for Pimm's second try.

Stourport's final score came near the end when a fine backs move was finished off by Lee Philip.

They are in the fixture pool for this weekend after Earlsdon cancelled the arranged match.

This was a challenging fixture both in terms of a quality Camp Hill side and the conditions.

The visitors opened the scoring with a penalty but Stourport responded straight away with a try through inside-centre Richard Woodward-Smith, converted by acting captain Steve Griffin.

Just on half-time, Stourport conceded a penalty in-front of the posts which Camp Hill converted to leave the score 7-6 at the turn around.

Taking advantage of the following wind, Camp Hill kicked deep and pinned Stourport back, scoring another try and a penalty to seal the win.
