A VALE group sang out in tribute to a colleague's wife in poignant fund-raising concert last month.

Fascinating Rhythm performed in memory of Marilyn Webb, wife of member Glenn Webb, and raised £400 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society into the bargain.

Mrs Webb died in July after suffering from multiple sclerosis for 15 years.

Before she became ill she had been, along with Mr Webb, a founder member of Harvington Amateur Theatrical Society and the group felt it would be a fitting tribute to her if they performed a fund-raising concert in her memory in the village hall where she had once trodden the boards.

Held last Saturday, the evening attracted a capacity audience and included many of the songs from shows and films that Mrs Webb had enjoyed.

Numbers ranged from old favourites like Moon River, and I've Got You Under My Skin, through to the Beatles and Abba and more recent hits like Robbie Williams's Angels.

"It was an excellent evening and lots of people turned up," said Mr Webb. Fascinating Rhythm first formed in 1998 for a one-night cabaret at the Bretforton Silver band Youth Music Festival.

Since then they have gone on to perform at a variety of venues around Evesham and with many well-known local musicians.

Their next major show is due to take place at Evesham Arts Centre on May 5 and May 6 next year.

The dates are also due to feature an orchestra with the Billy Davies Band and other musicians performing music from the movies.

Mr Webb said the group was always willing to do fund-raising concerts, like last Saturday's, but added they would have to charge a fee to cover their costs.
