HAVING read last week's lead story "Operation Clean-up" and the district council's "vow to put its money where its mouth is in the fight to clean up the district", I wonder if our councillors are aware of the commitment shown by other councils in the face of such problems.
I refer to Erewash Borough Council, Derbyshire, where the chief executive's contract has not been renewed and his salary of £60,000 is to be used to hire five street cleaners from among the area's long-term unemployed.
