I DO agree with Mrs Parry's excellent letter in the Journal. We are very lucky to have a cinema in Evesham and we should do our utmost to retain it. Undoubtedly it needs a radical and expensive modernisation plan, but the potential is enormous. Evesham is a fast-growing town with a young population and, I feel sure, the Regal would be well-supported if the facilities were up to the standard of the cinemas in neighbouring towns. Those at Stratford and Malvern are an example of what can be done.

Apparently the bingo hall in the old Clifton cinema is about to become an entertainment centre, which will help to keep our young people in the town instead of going to Worcester and Cheltenham for their entertainment. How tragic it would be if the Regal were to close at such a time of opportunity.
