HABBERLEY Golf Club's Craig Donald and Michael Nicholson fulfiled a lifetime ambition when they played over the Old Course, St Andrews, in the international final of the Famous Grouse Shotgun Foursomes.

The pair finished 14th in the event, now in its 16th year, which attracts entries from almost 100,000 golfers from 858 clubs.

After doing brilliantly to reach the final, Donald and Nicholson finished on 85, while the winners Matthew Hill and Philip Corker, of Hallamshire Golf Club, managed 75.

Edna Cox and Janet Harrison reached the final of the LGU-organised Millennium Foursomes final and despite matching the winning score of 36 points, they lost out on the back-nine countback and finished fourth.

The pair recorded a 20 front nine score and 16 back.

Harrison was the overall winner of the Habberley Ladies Match Cup, beating Veronica Brown in the final by four and three.

Richard Pearson Memorial, Division One: Trevor Cox 44 points, John Robinson 42; Division Two Mitch Humphries 43, Simon Hopkins 40.

Gents' Christmas Fayre: Dave Pearce and Pat Dolan 46, Steve and Mark Edwards 44, Ray McClean and John Plant 43.

l Val Bow completed the double at Wyre Forest Golf Club Ladies Section, winning the qualifying event for the Summer Eclectic Competition, a par 72 event, and also winning the medal final.

The last Stableford Competition of the summer season was won by Paula Wood and was her first win of the campaign.

The 12 events have been won by nine different players.

l Judith Davis won the Keith Boyce Trophy at Little Lakes Golf Club with 38 points, two ahead of runner-up Pat Taylor.
