KIDDERMINSTER Boundary Hockey Club started their DTZ Debenham Thorpe League fixture early - and were rewarded in more than one way.

They beat Nottingham University 4-1 and were the only team to play at King Charles School as subsequent matches were cancelled due to rain.

Neil Jackson opened the scoring for Kidderminster within the first 10 minutes but the visitors soon equalised.

Tom Jarvie then scored two goals, the second from a penalty stroke before half-time and completed his hat-trick in the second period.

The 2nds match at Worcester was abandoned after nine minutes, while the 3rds at Halesowen was off.

The new Astro facilities at Stourport High School saved this game and Darren Jackson responded with a hat-trick with Paul Rhodes and Neil Furminger the other scorers.

Old Halesonians 5th 3 Kidderminster 5ths 3

Kidderminster should have taken all three points in the DTZ Debenham Thorpe League, as they established a 3-0 lead with goals from David Jones (two) and Mike Wakenshaw.

But Old Hales clawed their way back into the game and levelled the scores.

Indoor League

Kidderminster had mixed fortunes at the Glades on Wednesday.

They came off best against Bromsgrove, winning 4-1, but came unstuck against Stourport, slumping to a 5-3 defeat.

Kidderminster Ladies 1 Bromsgrove 1

The ladies had the upper hand in the first half of their Worcestershire Hockey League Division Two match with a one-goal advantage.

But the visitors made sure of sharing the points with a second-half equaliser after the defence and keeper Sue Howard had held their opponents off.

Kidderminster's goal arrived when skipper Rachael Fidoe picked up a quick free hit by Helen Moore and supplied Amy Smith who blasted it into the goal from the edge of the circle.
