BUDDING retail workers could find a Christmas cracker of a job thanks to a festive Jobsfair planned for Worcester.

Worcester JobCentre will be showcasing hundreds of holiday season vacancies at the event in the CrownGate, due to be opened by Worcester Mayor Mary Drinkwater.

Staff will be on hand to advise jobseekers between 10am and 4pm from Monday, November 6 to Saturday, November 11.

"To date, more than 2,000 application form have been issued to almost 1,000 jobseekers and JobCentre staff are keen to fill the many Christmas vacancies still on offer," said Worcester Jobcentre's business manager Caroline Breese.

"We already know we will exceed last year's target, and hope to place more than 200 people into work this Christmas.

"By holding events in the local shopping centre, we hope to prompt people to apply who perhaps would not have thought about looking for work through the JobCentre.

"We hope to attract a wide variety of jobseekers at time when employers traditionally find it difficult to fill their vacancies."

Seasonal vacancies at Marks & Spencer, Argos, The Body Shop, BHS, Next, HMV and Russell & Dorrell will all be available to Jobsfair applicants.

Some positions could lead to permanent employment, Mrs Breese added.
