FORMER Labour party leader Michael Foot was guest of honour at a supper evening in Bromsgrove.

More than 100 members from the town's constituency turned up to event, at Avoncroft Museum's Guesten Hall, on Saturday.

Bromsgrove district councillor Peter McDonald (Lab, Uffdown and Waseley), the prospective parliamentary candidate for Bromsgrove in the next general election, paid tribute to Eva Franks, a stalwart of the town's Labour Party, who died in April.

Mr Foot shared reminisces with a string of people during the evening and he urged politicians to learn lessons from the experience of others in the past.

On Sunday he made a trip to the Chartist settlement in Dodford because he was unable to make its 150th anniversary last year as his late wife, Jill, was ill.
