AUDITORS for Bromsgrove District Council have called for top level talks with the authority's bosses to talk about the sale of its land.

The district's Labour leader Cllr Peter McDonald (Uffdown and Waseley) says he has received a letter calling for the meeting from auditors KPMG.

It wants to meet with officers and Cllr McDonald to investigate two issues raised by the Labour leader.

Cllr McDonald said these are concerning the proposed sale of land to ASDA and the matter in which the sale of a plot at Aston Road to Severn Waste was initially handled.

He added: "I am pleased KPMG is re-visiting the whole situation because I feel the taxpayers of Bromsgrove have been short-changed."

Council chief executive David Bryant said he was legally not in a position to comment.
