THE fate of late-night clubbers will be sealed on Monday when councillors meet to discuss extending admission times to a Bromsgrove nightclub.

The hearing will be presented before Bromsgrove District Council's licensing sub-committee, which will decide whether last admissions to Euphoria, in Worcester Road, can be moved from 11pm to midnight.

During the hearing the committee will hear presentations by applicant Mark Mifflin, police, environmental health experts and objectors, and members have the chance to question them.

One resident, who lives in Hanover Place, near the club, is campaigning against the moves which he claims will lead to unruly anti-social behaviour.

The campaigner cannot make the meeting but has asked for his letters to be read out.

Concerns at granting the extension include the time clubbers would leave pubs, meaning the noise of people going to the venue would escalate between 11pm and midnight.

This will add to current problems for residents, which include sleeplessness, fears for safety and damage to property and trespassing caused by unruly, drunken people entering the club even later.

In a report Bromsgrove police claim it would not be "appropriate" to change the time but would consider 11.30pm more suitable than midnight.

They feel clubbers waiting to enter would congregate outside takeaways and cause disturbances.

Owner Mark Mifflin said he was willing to compromise and accept an 11.30pm deadline and a late list until midnight for bar workers who want to come to the club.

He added: "The extra 30 minutes would mean instead of herding in people who have just left the pub we can get them in safely and slowly.

"If people are turned away they are left on the streets.

"Midnight is the normal closing time for clubs and I am willing to go on a six-month trial period to prove it will work."
