DROITWICH and Dudley produced some remarkably good rugby on Saturday despite the atrocious weather conditions.

The strong wind and driving rain made handling exceptionally difficult, although both sides attempted to use the ball.

Dudley made the early running with only committed Droitwich tackling denying them, but were eventually rewarded with a penalty.

Droitwich, fielding a young side, gelled remarkably well, defending with discipline with young outside half Dean Evans clearing his lines well. The defence of the ever reliable captain Nick Godfrey was particularly impressive. In the second half Droitwich looked the more likely to score with winger Jamie Faulkener going close on one occasion, and then perhaps should have passed the ball on another to allow Roy Walters to score.

Droitwich eventually drew level with a Matt Blackmore penalty. In the end a draw was a fair result and Droitwich will take heart from the game as they had a number of youngsters in the side against a very experienced Dudley outfit.
