THE only Chinese take-away Blackwell badminton star Stuart Holder will be hoping for in the next fortnight is a gold medal.

The 18-year-old is currently over in Guangzhou, China with the English Junior Badminton squad playing against the world's best in the World Junior Badminton Championships.

Stuart left on Sunday for the two-week tournament after being selected for the squad last month following a string of excellent results this season.

He will play a series of singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches during the event - his first ever world championships.

Stuart said: "It's going to be tough to do well because the Far East countries are very strong."

The NEW College student has been with the squad for three years and has already competed in a number of European tournaments.
