Re: Alvechurch Parish Poll "Save our Pound."
Who are these people that Gill Langley, Alvechurch Parish Council clerk, calls disreputable?
If any is disreputable it is those councils that are using council tax money to set up an office in Brussels.
I feel very angry about my money being wasted in this way. I feel very angry about Tony Blair our Prime Minister going to Nice in France in December, signing away even more of our rights.
When we try to exercise our rights, every obstacle is put in our way.
At the cost of 50 pence per household the parishioners of Alvechurch could have expressed their will on whether they wished to keep the pound as their sovereign currency.
I call that democracy. Yet others call it mischief making. Yet our treasury has acknowledged that our EU membership cost the UK £1m gross per hour.
We pay in this parish, parish tax, district tax and county tax. It all goes into one pot. So it is our concern, and of course it is political. Tell me what isn't.

Alvechurch
